An Introduction

One of the things I’ve learned after more than 20 years of work experience and a highly-successful career is that greatness and happiness comes from five primary things:

  1. Being clear about who you are and where you are going
  2. Having a gameplay to get from Point A to Point B
  3. Working your “you know what” off through challenges, a changing world and things out of your control to get there
  4. Getting help along the way
  5. Having a purpose that is greater than yourself

My purpose is to inspire and help you accelerate their potential, successes and happiness by sharing what I have learned and experienced so it doesn’t take you 20 or more years.  We all have a journey to take and no matter what you do, the journey will be hard.  You can either take many years to figure it all out yourself or you can do the work that accelerates your dreams and goals.  Either way it will be hard but I am here to help through StandoutX and the Standout Movement.

My journey began with periods of homelessness during and after high school but like many others, I didn’t let my early challenges take me down.  My life was, has been and always will be in my control.  I spent years learning about myself, setting goals for my future, working relentlessly to achieve those goals, getting help from some amazing people around me and always focusing on what I could do for others.  These five success factors allowed me to graduate from a top university with honors, become an executive with Disney and continue to accelerate my career beyond my wildest dreams.

The five ideas above are the “what” to my success and happiness.  The rules below are the “how” to operationalize and optimize these ideas.  Know them and you are well on your way to your own success and happiness.

Rule #1 – Better Outcomes Come From Better Awareness and Better Choices

Better personal and business awareness leads to better decision-making which leads to better outcomes and success. If you know more and have better awareness or yourself, others and your surroundings, you will make better choices and those choices will lead to better results.

Rule #2 – Your Purpose is the Three Pillars of Life

The purpose in life is simple and it follows our three core principles or pillars. You should always strive to be your best self, lead to help others be their best and make a difference by leaving your corner of the world better than you found it. At the end of the day, that’s all that you can do and all that anyone will ever ask of you. Think about it, if you are the best person that you can possibly be, you help others and you make everything around you better, that’s a great life and a purpose worth living for. This follows life itself… you grow up learning to be you, you eventually get a job and want to lead in your chosen field and at the end of your life, you want to feel like you made a difference. Your only challenge is to create (not find) “your mission” to make that possible.

Rule #3 – Daily Actions Equal Amazing Results

What you do every day is more important that what you do every once in a while. Everyone has 24 hours in a day but how you use that time is what differentiates you from the rest. Do what everyone else does each day and you will have what everyone else has. In my years of experience studying people who stand out and testing various principles, this is the one that has the greatest impact. We all want happiness, success and fulfillment but not everyone is willing to do what it takes every day to achieve that.

Rule #4 – Success and Happiness is Holistic

Success and happiness are not only about money, titles or achievements. Life is much bigger than that. Once you realize that success is holistic, you will be well ahead of the crowd and ready to take the necessary steps to realize all your goals and dreams. Think about all of the very successful people that seem to have all of the fame, fortune and success possible but are so unhappy. I’m sure you know someone who doesn’t seem to have much in terms of society’s idea of success, but they are still full of joy and happiness. If you don’t know someone like that, look at any baby or small child and see the wonder, excitement, happiness, love and joy that they have with no money, no significant material possessions and no ambitious title. We believe in well-rounded success and happiness and teach you how to rise your tide to lift all the boats in your life… mind, body, health, soul, contribution, financial, career, love, lifestyle and social network among others. How can you make or your money if you don’t have the right people to share it with? How can you enjoy your job if you don’t have a feeling of contribution and significance? Ever try to crush it at work but you don’t feel healthy? Success and happiness are holistic and require a holistic approach.

As we take this journey together, we will explain why everyone should strive to stand out, what it means to stand out, what qualities a person demonstrates that enables them to stand out and how tell the stories of others who have done it. The passionate mission of the Standout Movement team is to grow, develop, prepare, inspire and help you, as a person or a business, stand out early and often. If we can accelerate your potential and increase your probability of success, imagine how far you can go.

Rise. Shine. Impact… Now! The world is counting on you.
